7/23:

Hello Everyone!  We now have three pulls in the books.  Seems like we should have a few more by this time of year - but mother nature and other reasons have only let us get three in.  The rains kept coming and the Hallsville pull was canceled first.  It has been rescheduled for September 13th.  Then we were supposed to go to the Cooper County Fairgrounds on July 6th, but the rains came again - and the pull was canceled with no reschedule.  After moving the pull at Cole Camp to a Sunday - we were actually ready to have a pull without any threat of rain.

So we get in a few hooks, and the sled decided to take a "Break".  If you remember when we had this problem at the fun pull a couple of years ago - you will remember how I bragged on what a great bunch of pullers we have.  Well - I'm going to do it again!!  Within ten minutes of the break down - people were headed out to get parts, and others were already taking nuts and bolts loose in order to have it ready to go back in as soon as they got back.  We even made an attempt to put on a Tractor Rodeo in order to keep things going for those who were waiting.  As we learned - PeWee may be a master at moving the sled - but pushing a barrel he is not!! HA-HA!!  After a couple of hours of messing around, we were able to get the sled going again and finish our second pull of the season.  Ben Frazee would like to extend thanks to all of you who helped work on the sled, and those who stayed late to finish the pull.

Next up was the Columbia pull which was moved to Monday night this year instead of Thursday.  It's hard to get a lot of people there on a week night anywhere - but we had a good turn out anyway.  Thanks to Adrian Cox, Bill Brooks, John Dye and Kenny Anderson for making the long trek on a work night.  We were glad to have you folks there.  Rain was a threat for most of the latter part of the pull.  The fire department was wanting us to clear out, but the fairboard said to stay until we were done.  So - we kicked the box scraper and packer up a gear and went as fast as we could.  Thanks to all who attended and helped with the pull.

This coming weekend, we go to Macon on Saturday night.  JP - we start at 5:00pm, OK?? HA-HA!!  This is a long trip for some of us, so check around and see if some of you can catch a ride with someone else, and help split the fuel.  There should be a pretty good size crowd on hand to watch because this will be their main attraction that night for the Flywheel Club Reunion.  So try and make it if you can.

In other news, the track in Sturgeon is still a mess to say the least - so instead of taking a chance on not getting in a pull, we have decided to move the pull to the Steam Engine Grounds in Boonville that night and MATPA will be the host for the pull.  Print out the flyer from the front page of the website and hang some up at your work and other places in order for us to get as many hooks as possible.  The Jamestown Lions Club will be taking care of the food stand - so let's remember to support them too.

We have also added another points pull to the schedule.  It will be at the Maries County Fair on Thursday night August 28th.  This is in Vienna.  If you need any directions - contact Wayne Boeckman at 573-645-6544.  The pull is right next to the highway - so it shouldn't be hard to find.  It will start at 6pm.  This is the first time at this pull for us, so let's try to make a good showing.

That's enough rambling for me for now.  I'll see all of you at Macon!!!
