General Rules

  1. **Non-MATPA members are allowed to pull at any pull as DAY members, they are no longer required to become paid MATPA members.
  2. *Tractors in ALL divisions will have to pass the tech committee, not just Div II. You will receive a sticker to put on your tractor saying you passed tech.
  3. * Official full pull measurement is to be taken from sled reading. Cones at the end of the track are for reference purposes only.
  4. ** Exhaust pipes MUST go straight up or down. Curved pipes are no longer allowed.
  5. Drivers must stay in the seat of the tractor at all times. Hand must be on steering wheel, hand brakes, hand clutch or throttle at all times during the pull.
  6. Any tractor or puller found to be unsafe or illegal may be disqualified or barred from hooking. This includes excessive use of alcohol
  7. Any weight falling off the tractor after being hooked and until unhooked will result in disqualification.
  8. There will be a full pull line used at ALL pulls. The full pull line will be positioned according to available track length. A full pull will be declared when the front of the sled is at or passed the full pull line.
  9. If any contact point of the tractor touches or crosses the out of bounds line the pull will be disqualified. It is the drivers responsibility to stay inbounds. The out of bounds line will be marked from the start line to the pull pull line.
  10. Gas, diesel or LP only. Gas can be used with a maximum specific gravity of 750. No alcohol or nitrous oxide fuels allowed. All tractors are subject to random fuel checks.
  11. Tractors must have the stock engine, frames, transmission, rear end and axle housings or manufacturer's replacement. Stock heads and their replacements are to remain unchanged in outside appearance. Duel exhaust not allowed except after manifold. MM 800, Massey 1100, Oliver 99 and Oliver 12 port heads allowed in all classes. Diesels must have the stock or stock appearing pump in the stock location. Intake and exhaust manifolds must be cast and cannot be homemade; exceptions do to unavailability must be approved by the board. Any agricultural tractor type carburetor allowed. Number of barrels and throats must be that of the manufacturer for that particular tractor. Enhanced electrical systems permitted in all classes. Electric fans, electric water pumps and electric fuel pumps allowed in Division III and V only. No locked rearends.
  12. Tractors equipped with swinging seats must have a positive stop to prevent contact with rear tires.
  13. All rules will be interpreted by the Board Committee. Any unforeseen problems or oversights will be ruled on by the Rules Committee with their rulings being final.
  14. Protests must be made by a puller in that class. Protest must be made to a track official before tractor leaves the track. Protester's tractor will also be checked. Any tractor found illegal for the same offense more than once will the banned from all MATPA points pulls for the calendar year (January 1 – December 31)
  15. A guideline for entries will be that no entry for a class will be accepted afer the class is started, and no more than 3 classes per tractor>

Rules will not be changed for a period of three years with the exception of a safety issue.
