9/30:   The 2007 Pulling season for MATPA is in the books!!  Congratulations to everyone!!  We had a tremendous year considering the high fuel cost and long distances traveled by many.  Thanks again to everyone who helped with all the track duties.  Start checking the website for all the off season meetings.

Eldon had a pretty good turnout, and the weather was near perfect.  Like I mentioned earlier, allot of classes came down to the final pull!!  Stacy Wessing and Jeff Prenger went down to the wire in the 3250 Div II.  Jeff was unable to attend, but had Ben Rackers bring the Allis WC and do some fantastic driving in order to secure the points championship!

The 5500 Div III class was also down to the wire!!  Austin Timm needed to stay ahead of Mike Moore who was only one point behind.  Austin tried a different side than everyone else and had trouble keeping the front end down.  When all the dust cleared, he finished far enough ahead of Mike More to take the number one spot in the points champion ship.  Congratulations Austin and Mike.

Yet another class up for grabs at Eldon, was the 6500 Div III.  And again - Austin Timm was in the lead by one point going into the final round.  Behind him this time was JP Dunn on his 70 John Deere.  Austin made a good hook on his 570 Cockshutt - but in the end - JP Dunn was able to come out on top and declare himself champion.

I was told earlier in the week that the leading tractor was not going to be there for the 7500 Div II.  I didn't believe it until I got there.  But it was true - Mark Meisenheimer neglected to bring his tractor.  The reason?  I would have to get a 2nd or 1st in order to collect enough points to drive past him.  A 3rd Place finish, and we would tie for the points championship.  I went over and took some air out of the 570 Cockshutt diesel after seeing the track and how everyone was spinning out with not much trouble.  As I signed up for my class - I read the name "Mark Meisenheimer" - only this time, he decided to drive his UB Moline, instead of his UB Special which he was leading the points with.  I later found out the Mr Meisenheimer was wanting to beat me with this tractor in order to win the points! HA-HA.  So, everything was going great.  I was the 4th puller - and took the lead.  OK - we are in good shape - so I thought.  Then comes this little lady on her 560 Diesel - Renee Kerksiek.  She decides to show me up and pulls about 10ft ahead of me.  Then, Reed Nichols comes within a foot, and now I'm getting nervous.  I'm in 2nd place - and one more person ahead of me - and I tie with Pewee, two more and I end up in second.  I should be getting weighted in for the 8500, but I can't bring myself to pull away from the track.  Along comes Wayne Boeckman - never count Wayne out.  He gets right in there with Reed Nichols, but not enough to go past me.  A little sigh of relief.  Then comes Mr Meisenheimer.  Not only would it be great for me to win the points, but to actually beat PEWEE doing it - that would be a tremendous feat.  Keep in mind, he has already secured the top spot in two other classes this year.  So, down the track comes the UB - and it keeps going - and going, and going, and %*&# going!  He blows by me.  There I sit in third place now.  I have tied the great PEWEE.  But can my position hold??  A couple of other tractors make their way down the track, and sure enough - my third place holds!!  I have not overcome Mr Meisenheimer - but I have tied for the win in the points championship - bringing an end to the most enjoyable year I have had yet with MATPA.

Thanks to all again.  I'll be getting to work on the driver profiles we have been getting.  So look back often - you never know when you might be the topic of "Steve's Table"  See ya next year!!!!!!

9/20: Our last pull of the 2007 season is this coming Saturday at Eldon.  Thanks to Charlie Rackers and everyone who helped put on the pull at California.  I hope some of you were able to enjoy some of the activities of the Ham & Turkey Festival.

We have had a very active and safe season.  I hope everyone can make it to the pull at Eldon.  We have several classes that are going to be decided on what happens Saturday night!  I hope we can have the points totaled up and on web by Thursday or Friday - that way we can see what's going to happen.  Even both classes that I'm in are going to be decided by the last pull!  Whatever happens - happens.  I know that this year has been one of the most enjoyable pulling seasons I have ever been through, and I have done the best I could, and made it to all the pulls possible!  I hope everyone else has enjoyed it as well.

We'll be looking forward to our fall/winter meetings coming up.  Please contact Andrew and let him know if you are interested in hosting one of the monthly meetings.

Thanks again to all who helped on the track all year long.  It seems like it's the same old people, but we couldn't get it done without you.  Those of you who help, know who you are, and again -Thank You!  Like Robin said a while back, you are the "spokes on the wheel of MATPA", and we couldn't do this without all the help!  See ya at Eldon!!!

9/11: It's Monday night, about 11:00pm.  I'm still trying to recover from the lack of sleep - worrying over the possability of rain last Saturday for the Showdown Pull.  But - low and behold, the clouds held it in, and we had a great night of pulling.  I want to thank everyone for all thier help in putting on the 2007 Back to the Farm Showdown.  We had a record setting night that will be very hard to beet anytime soon.  When the dust settled about 12:30am, we had a total of 353 hooks!!!!!  Last year we had 269, and we thought that was a big night.

Once again, I want to thanks all of you who helped with track preparations, line-ups, sign-up, results, flagmen, hookers, Rollers and scrapers.  Special thanks go out to Danny Haldiman, John Volkart, Mike Crane, Pat Knipp, and Harold Wolfe for volunteering almost the entire night!!!!  We couldn't have done it without you.

Robyn said it pretty good on the main page.  Everything went so smoothly.  If I could change one thing, it would be the parking.  I tried to keep the gravel opened for us, but some of the other show people got there and left before I could get them out of the way.  Sorry if this inconvienced anybody!  Thanks for your patience.  The radios seemed to really help when things started to get confusing!  I think we made a good purchase there.  And the banners Billy had made look great!!!!  I'll get them down to the California Pull and get them set up.

Thanks again to all the sponsors that donated to the cause.  The video taping went very well.  Who every has the sheets from the night, please keep them handy for Rod and I so we can go back to the editing room and get the names of the pullers listed on the screen during the video.  I really think this is going to make a nice show for RFD TV.  Thanks again to Herb and his helpers for all the hard work.  They sold almost 50 copies of the DVD for the pull.

Thanks again to the Moncktons for cooking up a great mess of fish and helping with the chicken I brought.  (thanks for helping me get the fryer going Mr. Young!!)  We had plenty of good food and company.  We tried to stay up all night, but everyone was just too tired.  Sorry again about the fryer thing Terry!!!!  Thanks again to Gray Feather for working some more on the announcers stand.  That thing is the granddaddy of announcer's stand as far as I'm concerned.

I think everyone had a great time!!!  I hope some of you got to see the rest of the show and are wanting to come back next year!  I look forward to seeing everyone at California next Saturday!!!

Thanks again for a great Showdown!!!!!!!!!

9/5:  It's Wednesday, September 5th - 2007.  And if the weather man does not get things straightened out, I'm going to be in the hospital for an ulcer when we are supposed to be pulling Saturday.  It depends on what station you are watching, or what website as to whether or not they are calling for rain.  Everybody get together and pray for a little rain - but lots of sunshine for Saturday!!!!!!!!

The Back to the Farm Reunion starts tomorrow!!!  Come out and see what all we have to offer besides a tractor pull.  There will be Steam Engines, threshing, sawing, parades, kids games and activities, train rides, horses, music, food, and many good times.  This is the last time I will be around the internet until after the pull.  If you need anything - contact me on my cell phone at 573-808-0010.

Don't forget to print yourself a copy of the pulling order and take it with you to the pull.  We are going to try to stick to this order the best we can.  Be watching the website for any further information about the weather and any more information about the pull.  DON'T FORGET - DRIVERS MEETING AT 3:45PM SHARP at the announcer's stand.  We will get things started promptly at 4:00pm.  Get signed up early.  If some of you want to come by Friday night, I think we might be doing some signing up early that night.  Try to find me, and I will point you in the right direction.

Friday night is when we have the fish fry - or what ever you want to call it.  Bring a dish, Monckton's cook the meat.  Bring a few bucks to donate towards the fish and other meat if you don't mind.  Bring a beverage of choice.  We'll be over near the track somewhere.  I'm going to bring some Turkey Breast to fry as well.  It will be a good night of story telling and joking around.  Don't worry about the weather, there is big storage building we can sit in if it rains.

On a special note - just so I don't forget - I want to thank everyone who helped get the Back to the Farm SHOWDOWN pull put on!!!  We could not have done it with help from all of you.  I'm not going to name names, but you know who you are.  Don't forget to be on your best behavior - it will be on RFDTV at a later date.  The pull will also be video taped and sold by VID TECH.  You can pre-order you copy at a discounted price the day of the show.

I also just got work the THE HOOK Magazine is going to be there and will be writing a feature article about the pull!  We want to extend our thanks to them for coming to the pull.

Below is a list of sponsors for the pull - if you see one of them at the pull, make sure to thank them for their sponsorship.  Without their money, we could not have made a big production out of this pull like we have.  And keep in mind, we may want them to do this again - so make sure they know how much we appreciate their help!!
